When my mother died, I thought the grief of losing her would be the deepest pain I would ever have to face. I was wrong. At the reading of her will, the attorney spoke in a flat, emotionless tone: “All monetary assets and property are to be transferred to my eldest daughter, Clarissa.” That was it. No reason.
