“Take your plate and go eat with the dogs…” : my daughter-in-law’s words deeply hurt me, and here’s what I did

😲 “Take your plate and go eat with the dogs.” My daughter-in-law’s words pushed me to call a number I had sworn never to dial again.

When my son told me he wanted to move in with his family, I welcomed them warmly, despite all the past disagreements.

I did everything I could to make my daughter-in-law feel comfortable. However, over time, her attitude toward me changed. She became more and more rude, as if I were the one living in their house. She constantly criticized what I did, often in the absence of my son.

One day, during a dinner I had carefully prepared, she suddenly declared: “You are no longer the mistress of this house.” When I tried to respond, she added, “Take your plate and go eat with the dogs.”

I was deeply hurt by her words, but I knew I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. So, I picked up my phone and called someone I had sworn never to contact again.

Before reading the rest of my story, I’d like to know what you think. How would you have reacted in my place?

The rest of my story is in the article in the first comment 👇👇👇.

“Take your plate and go eat with the dogs…” : my daughter-in-law’s words deeply hurt me, and here’s what I did

I didn’t think for long before I picked up the phone and dialed my ex-husband’s number.

As soon as he answered, I explained the situation in detail.

It didn’t take him long to understand that this couldn’t go on any longer.

As a lawyer, he knew I had to take back control.

“Take your plate and go eat with the dogs…” : my daughter-in-law’s words deeply hurt me, and here’s what I did

“You can’t accept this kind of behavior, especially not in your own house.”

He insisted that the house was in my name, and I had no obligation to endure such an attitude.

The next day, he came to my house.

He told my son and daughter-in-law, clearly, that they had no right to stay here unless they respected the rules.

“Take your plate and go eat with the dogs…” : my daughter-in-law’s words deeply hurt me, and here’s what I did

“This house is in her name, and as long as you don’t respect her rights, you must leave immediately.”

They had to find another place to stay urgently.

As for me, I regained my peace of mind thanks to my ex-husband’s intervention, who knew how to defend my rights with the firmness necessary.
