I calmly asked my daughter-in-law not to paint her nails in the kitchen. My son lost his temper and hit me, and his wife smirked. But just fifteen minutes later, something happened that made them deeply regret their actions… 😨😢

I had been cooking since early morning, and it had become my daily duty over the past fifteen years. Standing by the sink, I washed the dishes and looked out the window at the gray courtyard. My legs ached from constant strain, my hands barely moved, but I was used to it. I had to finish my work by noon so that my son and daughter-in-law wouldn’t start a scandal.

Behind me, a sharp, familiar smell spread. I didn’t immediately understand what was happening until my chest tightened. My daughter-in-law was sitting at the kitchen table, calmly painting her nails, with several bottles of nail polish laid out in front of her. The strong chemical smell filled the entire kitchen.

I developed asthma a few years ago. The doctors warned me: any strong smell could trigger an attack. I took out my inhaler, breathed in, and, trying to speak calmly, said:

— Please, excuse me, but could you paint your nails in the room? I’m having trouble breathing, the smell of nail polish immediately triggers an attack. You know I’m not allowed that.

My daughter-in-law didn’t even look up. She simply continued brushing on the polish and replied indifferently:

— This is my home, and I’ll do whatever I want. If you feel bad, leave yourself.

At that moment, my son entered the kitchen. He heard the last words and stopped in the doorway. His face immediately tensed.

— Are you starting again? — he said irritably. — Nothing is ever right for you. My wife has the right to do whatever she wants.

— Son, I was just asking, I’ll leave right away — I began, but didn’t get the chance to finish.

My son stepped sharply toward me. There was an anger in his eyes that I had long been used to, but this time it was different.

— Shut up, — he hissed. — We’re all sick of you.

The blow was strong and unexpected. I felt a sharp pain in my cheekbone and fell to the floor. My glasses fell onto the tiles and the glass shattered. My daughter-in-law looked down at me and smirked.

— It was about time.

I lay on the cold floor, holding back tears. I was sixty-eight years old. For many years, I had endured humiliation, believing that we were a family. That for a son, one must stay silent, swallow everything, and endure.

But at that moment, something inside me broke completely.

After such humiliation, I called someone.

My son believed I was a helpless old man, completely dependent on him. He was wrong. 😢😲 The continuation of this story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

I called a longtime friend. He used to work in the police and was a lieutenant colonel. Now he is retired, but he still has connections. Because I know too well how such matters are handled in our country when you have no connections or protection.

I said only a few words. He didn’t ask for clarification or unnecessary questions. He simply replied:

— I understand. Wait.

Half an hour later, police officers came to our home. They asked my son and daughter-in-law to pack their things and leave the apartment. They issued a fine, documented the assault, and warned them that next time the conversation would be very different.

My son looked at me as if he were seeing me for the first time. He was convinced that I was a defenseless old man with no protection.

After that, I did one more thing. I transferred my entire inheritance to a children’s shelter. The house, the accounts, everything I had.

After some time, my son and daughter-in-law began calling. Then they came in person, apologized, said they had realized everything, that they had been under stress, that they hadn’t wanted it to happen.

I listened in silence.

But why should I spend my old age in humiliation and fear beside people who raised a hand against me.
