The smartest defense starts before the bite: wearing long sleeves, using repellent, and checking your
body and clothes after every trip outdoors, especially in warmer months.
If you do find a tick attached, time and technique matter. Use fine-tipped tweezers, grip the tick as close to the skin as possible,
and pull straight out with steady pressure—no twisting, squeezing, or yanking. Then seal it in a bag or container, or flush it away, and watch your body closely.
