My friend received these unusual scissors with four holes: but what are they for?

When my friend had a baby, her grandmother gave her this strange object. 😱

At first glance, they seem like regular scissors with four holes for fingers 😲 But if that’s the case, why are there extra holes? 🤔

I decided to look up some information online, and when I found out what it was, I was completely shocked 😲 I didn’t even know something like this existed…

I explain what it is and what it’s used for in the first comment 👇👇

When my friend had her baby, her grandmother brought her a gift — an old, slightly worn pair of scissors. But not an ordinary one — it had four holes for fingers and the word “LEFTY” engraved on the blade. We stared at it for a long time, trying to figure out its purpose.

“Is this something medical?” I asked, turning it in my hands. “Or maybe it’s for sewing with the left hand?” We came up with several theories, but none of them seemed to fit.

I decided to dig deeper. After some searches, an old forum, and a few old advertising brochures, I finally found the answer: these are educational children’s scissors.

These scissors were created so that an adult can help a child learn how to cut. The child puts their fingers in one pair of holes, and the adult in the other — and they make the motion together.

I was really surprised. I had never heard of this. But the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea. These scissors aren’t just metal and plastic — they carry care, patience, and tenderness.

Perhaps the grandmother didn’t just give a tool, but a small bridge between generations — so that mother and child could take their first steps together, literally “hand in hand.”

Now, these strange scissors sit on my friend’s shelf as a symbol of family bonds. And one day, when her child grows up, they will definitely use them. Together.
