Lily stood beside him as the flower girl, wearing a white dress and a nervous smile.
She had been placed in front of strangers, photographers, and a public audience without my knowledge.
It wasn’t the wedding itself that hurt; it was realizing that his sudden interest in being a father was tied to an event, not a relationship. I drove to the venue immediately.
