More People Are Identifying as Almondsexual Here Is What It Means

New labels appear all the time in the way people talk about attraction, and for many, they are less about following a trend and more about finally finding words that fit.

Almondsexual is one of those newer microlabels that has been circulating online, and it exists for people who feel their attraction has a clear pattern that broader terms don’t always capture. It can sound unfamiliar at first, but its purpose is simple: to describe attraction in a way that feels accurate and personal.

In most community definitions, almondsexual refers to someone who experiences primary attraction to male aligned and androgynous aligned genders, with only occasional or minor attraction to female aligned genders. Put more plainly, the “center of gravity” of attraction stays steady toward masculine and neutral presentations,

while attraction toward feminine presentations may happen less often or feel less intense. That distinction is what makes the label stand out for people who don’t feel evenly attracted across genders, yet also don’t feel strictly limited to only one.

Almondsexual is usually discussed under the wider multisexual umbrella, meaning it can sit alongside identities like bisexuality and pansexuality rather than replacing them. Some people still prefer bisexual or pansexual because those labels feel familiar, recognized, and broad enough, while others find almondsexual helps communicate a specific preference structure without needing a long explanation every time. As with many microlabels, different spaces may describe the edges of the definition slightly differently, but the core idea remains the same.

The term is also commonly paired in discussion with berrisexual, which is often described as the inverse microlabel focused more on feminine and androgynous attraction patterns. If the word almondsexual is new, that’s normal, because these labels often spread through online communities before they ever reach mainstream awareness. The main takeaway is that, for the people who use it, almondsexual is simply a way to name their attraction pattern with more precision and comfort.
