Mark Carney Vows to Defeat Trump in Trade War
Mark Carney, set to become Canada’s next Prime Minister, has pledged to win the ongoing trade war with the U.S.
He immediately criticized President Donald Trump after being announced as
Justin Trudeau’s successor on Sunday (March 9).
The former central bank chief of the U.K.
and Canada secured leadership of the Liberal Party,
making history as the first PM with no prior political experience.
Carney will officially take office in the coming days and lead
the Liberals into the next general election, expected soon.
Wasting no time, Carney condemned Trump’s aggressive tariffs on Canada.
The U.S. President has imposed a 25% tariff on
Canadian imports and an additional 10% on energy products,
blaming Canada for failing to stop the flow of illicit drugs.
Trump even suggested Canada should become the 51st U.S. state to avoid tariffs.
Carney fired back, declaring, “Canada will never be part of America.”
He called on Canadians to unite, saying, “These are dark days, but we must stand together.
We’ve faced crises before, and we will emerge stronger once again.”
