An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergenc
y landing in Las Vegas
Wednesday morning after on
e of its engines started smoking shortly after takeoff.
According to the FAA
, smoke began billowing from Flight 1665
just moments after it departed from Harry Reid International Airport.
The plane was headed to Charlotte,
North Carolina, with 165 passengers onboard.
A video captured the aircraft with
“dark smoke trailing behind the plane in midair.”
Despite the frightening scene,
the flight landed safely back in Las Vegas by 8:20 a.m. and
“taxied to the terminal under its own power,
” said airport spokesperson Luke Nimmo.
Thankfully, *“no injuries were reported.”*
