Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old honor student and athlete, tragically lost his life after being stabbed by fellow student
Karmelo Anthony during a confrontation at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco,
Texas, on April 2, 2025.
The incident began as a verbal dispute and escalated when
Anthony pulled out a knife, fatally stabbing Metcalf in the chest.
In the aftermath, a wave of misinformation spread across social media,
with fraudulent accounts impersonating the
Frisco Police Chief and the medical examiner’s office.
Some false posts claimed Metcalf died from
a drug overdose or that the altercation was a mutual combat situation.
Police have confirmed that these report
s are entirely false and have warned the public to trust only verified information. Despite the online chaos,
Anthony’s family raised nearly $200,000 for his legal defense,
while condemning the spreading false narratives.
Anthony is currently facing a first-degree murder charge with a bond set at $1 million.
Both the FBI and local police are investigating the fraudulent accounts,
and Frisco officials urge residents to focus on supporting the families and staying above the social media frenzy.
Frisco City Councilman Brian Livingston emphasized
that the community remains united and focused on addressing the tragedy.
