JD Vance responds to cousin’s public criticism about him and issue on Ukraine

His cousin, Nate Vance, recently criticized Vice President JD Vance for his handling of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his position on Ukraine.

During his Monday appearance on CNN, Nate Vance shared pictures of himself as a child with JD Vance before critiquing the vice president’s strategy regarding the conflict in Ukraine.

He accused former President Donald Trump and JD Vance of attempting to curry favor with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a different interview with Le Figaro.

It’s obvious that Donald Trump and my cousin think they can appease Vladimir Putin. “They’re mistaken,” Nate Vance said. “The Russians will not forget our backing for Ukraine.” We are the helpful fools of Vladimir Putin.

Because both Nate and JD Vance’s fathers were brothers who served in the U.S. Marines, they both come from military families.

JD Vance refutes the claims made by his cousin.

Vice President Vance responded politely but denied some of Nate’s allegations, especially those pertaining to his attempts to get in touch with him.

“I always thought Nate was the toughest guy I knew, and I still like him despite what he says about me. In an interview with DailyMail.com, JD Vance said, “I’m always happy to talk to him.”

He did wonder, though, why Nate didn’t get in touch with family members instead of using his old Senate office.

“I don’t know why Nate chose to contact my Senate office instead of his mother, father, or sister, with whom I communicate frequently,” he continued.

The vice president also disclosed that in order to protect his cousin from further danger, he purposefully avoided discussing his service in Ukraine in public.

JD Vance clarified, “I never talked publicly about my cousin Nate’s service in Ukraine because I love him and I didn’t want to put his life in further danger than it was already.”

Nate Vance’s Cautions Regarding Russia

Nate Vance was unreserved in his criticism of Russia on CNN, saying that both Trump and JD Vance misjudge the Kremlin’s intentions.

They have no qualms about devouring an American president or vice president. He cautioned, “They don’t give a damn what we think.” “At least not for a generation, they are not and never will be our allies.”

Nate Vance has previously voiced his disapproval of his cousin. He discussed his time in Ukraine and his choice to fight alongside Ukrainian forces in an interview on The Real Jim Morris Show in January.

“Now that I think about it, I’m a fool, right? He acknowledged, “My plan was pretty much ‘f**k it,’ I’ll figure it out when I get there.”

He also admitted that his decision to travel to Ukraine was influenced by his spirit of adventure.

“It is somewhat dishonest for anyone to claim that adventure is not a part of it. You’re not telling the truth,” he remarked.

But after realizing the possible security threats his presence in Ukraine posed to JD Vance, he finally left for the United States.

“The vice president is saying, ‘One of my g***damn relatives is a captive, right?’ if something were to happen to me. Nate clarified, “So it hamstrings his ability.”

Composing a Book on Ukraine

Despite his criticism of his cousin, Nate Vance acknowledged that JD accurately depicted his childhood in Hillbilly Elegy.

He acknowledged that his early years were more difficult than the book depicted. “If you want my honest opinion, I’ll tell you that if there’s any dishonesty, it’s in making it seem better than it actually was.”

About his experiences in Ukraine and the ongoing conflict with Russia, Nate is currently writing a book. In addition to finishing the manuscript, he is actively looking for a publisher and literary agent.

“I’m about 99 percent finished. He said, “I wrote about 85,000 words.” “I’m kind of living the last chapter, which makes finishing it difficult.”

JD Vance has stated that he still has a close personal relationship with Nate in spite of the public controversy. But there is a clear rift between them as evidenced by their divergent opinions on the conflict in Ukraine and American foreign policy.
